Asia Cup 2025 to be Played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

The Asia Cup 2025 is all set to take place in the UAE, with Dubai hosting 11 matches and Abu Dhabi staging 8 fixtures. Despite being the official host, India will play its matches at neutral venues for three years when the tournament is hosted by either India or Pakistan. This arrangement was mutually agreed upon between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).


Match Lineup

The tournament kicks off on September 9 in Abu Dhabi with Afghanistan facing Hong Kong.

  • India’s campaign begins on September 10 in Dubai against the UAE.

  • The much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash is scheduled for September 14 in Dubai.

  • India’s final group-stage match will be against Oman on September 19 in Abu Dhabi.


Tournament Progression

The Super Four stage will run from September 20–26.

  • If India tops Group A, all their Super Four matches will be played in Dubai.

  • If they finish second, one match will be held in Abu Dhabi and two in Dubai.

The final is set for September 28 in Dubai, promising a grand finish to the tournament.


Akram’s Perspective

Cricket legend Wasim Akram shared his thoughts on the Asia Cup schedule while speaking on the Stick With Cricket Podcast.

“Asia Cup schedule is out, there is backlash. But we in Pakistan are calm. We will be fine whether we play or don’t play. The game must go on.”

Akram also expressed hope to witness a Test series between India and Pakistan in his lifetime, urging both nations to keep politics aside and focus on cricket.

Akram highlighted the a importance of sportsmanship over rivalry:

“Politics apart, I am not a politician. They are patriotic about their country, we are patriotic about ours. Let’s not go below the belt. Talk about the triumphs of your country; the same goes for Pakistan and the same goes for India.”
