PBKS scores big on Harshal and Rossouw at the IPL 2024 auction
During the Indian Premier League auction in 2024, Punjab Kings made their bid based on experience and youth.
Even though PBKS’s roster is set for the upcoming season, they added a few notable players to strengthen the group.
The Kings expanded Rilee Rossouw’s batting depth while bringing in pacers like Chris Woakes and Harshal Patel.
In the 2023 IPL, PBKS came in ninth place. We interpret their auction.

During the auction, they made a few significant additions to fill in the holes left by the departure of previous seasons’ cast members.

These are the key figures that PBKS kept on board.
Shikhar Dhawan will remain the captain of the Punjab Kings after scoring 373 runs in the previous campaign.
Domestic superstars Jitesh Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh scored 358 and 309 runs respectively last season.
Liam Livingstone, Nathan Ellis, Sam Curran, and Kagiso Rabada are among the other players who were kept on.
One important asset is Arshdeep Singh, who took 17 wickets in the previous season.

For the auction, PBKS has set aside Rs. 29.10 crore in funds.
Throughout the trade window, they did not participate in any signings.
The following players have been retained: Sam Curran, Sikandar Raza, Shivam Singh, Harpreet Brar, Arshdeep Singh, Nathan Ellis, Rahul Chahar, Vidwath Kaverappa, Atharva Taide, Rishi Dhawan, Jitesh Sharma, Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh, Liam Livingstone, and Harpreet Bhatia.

IPL 2024 signings: Ashutosh Sharma (Rs. 20 lakh), Tanay Thyagarajann (Rs. 20 lakh), Prince Choudhary (Rs. 20 lakh), Rilee Rossouw (Rs. 8 crore), Ashutosh Patel (Rs. 11.75 crore), Chris Woakes (Rs. 4.20 crore), Shashank Singh (Rs. 20 lakh), and Vishwanath Pratap Singh (Rs. 20 lakh).

In return for Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s release, PBKS strengthened their middle order by include Rossouw.
Harshal will greatly enhance their death bowling in the interim, enabling them to add a foreign player if necessary.
Woakes is a flexible PBKS alternative. He gives their lineup more depth because he is a skilled bowler and bats occasionally as well.
