Against the Punjab Kings, the Yellow Army suffered their fourth straight IPL 2025 defeat.
In an exciting chase in which they failed to match Punjab’s impressive score of 219/6, CSK fell by 18 runs.
The team’s bowling plan and their capacity to keep opponents below 180 runs have come up for scrutiny again as a result of the loss.
Srikkanth lambastes CSK’s bowling and fielding.
Srikkanth voiced his disapproval of CSK’s fielding and bowling on the social media platform X. He wrote, “When you give over 130 runs from 83/5 to 219/6 and keep dropping catches, you are never going to be in a winning position, however good you try and chase!”
His remarks came after Punjab Kings turned CSK’s dropped catches into a massive score of 83/5.
Chances missed The impact of CSK’s missed opportunities
Mukesh Choudhary missed a catch at long-off and Ravindra Jadeja missed a sitter, two of CSK’s numerous fielding errors. Priyansh Arya made all of these mistakes to help him score a quick century in 39 balls. In the 17th over, Jadeja also gave Shashank Singh an extra chance, which added to CSK’s defeat. Notably, Arya’s 42-ball 103 powered PBKS to a record 219/6 in Mullanpur.
Performance of the bat In another run-chase, CSK fails.
Rachin Ravindra (36) and Devon Conway, CSK’s openers, batted well in the powerplay. However, the scoring rate dried up in the middle overs. Even though Shivam Dube (42) and Conway added 89 runs for the third wicket, the required rate was never reached. PBKS bowlers held their nerve toward the end, and the Super Kings eventually finished at 201/5. CSK failed to win despite MS Dhoni’s explosive 27-run knock off 12 balls.
Call for improvement
Srikkanth urges CSK to improve their bowling
Srikkanth has urged CSK to improve their bowling and restrict opponents under 180 runs.
He said, “It’s high time CSK does something with their bowling and restrict the opponents to less than 180 cos the batting order is not set up for a score beyond that! It all depends on their bowling, not their batting, if CSK must make a comeback!” This comes after four consecutive defeats for Chennai Super Kings.
