Top Performers of IPL 2025: Star Players Who Lit Up the Season

The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League was filled with breathtaking performances and unforgettable moments. While many players delivered match-winning contributions, a few stood out with consistent brilliance throughout the season. Here’s a look at five of the top performers who made a massive impact for their respective franchises.

Mitchell Marsh – Lucknow Super Giants

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was a revelation for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), consistently providing explosive starts at the top of the order. He was in red-hot form with the bat and emerged as one of the season’s top scorers.

One of Marsh’s most memorable performances came against Gujarat Titans, where he smashed a brilliant 117.

Across 13 matches, Marsh accumulated 627 runs at an impressive average of 48.23 and a strike rate of 163.70. His tally included six half-centuries and one century.

Due to fitness concerns, Marsh was unable to contribute with the ball, but his batting more than made up for it.

Nicholas Pooran – Lucknow Super Giants

Nicholas Pooran proved to be another major asset for LSG, displaying his trademark power-hitting throughout the tournament.

Pooran finished the season with the most sixes – a whopping 40 maximums. His best performance came in a high-octane clash against Kolkata Knight Riders, where he blazed an unbeaten 87 off just 36 balls.

Although his form dipped slightly in the latter stages, Pooran amassed 524 runs from 14 matches at an average of 43.66. His strike rate of 196.25 was among the highest in the season and included five dynamic fifties.

Josh Hazlewood – Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Josh Hazlewood played a crucial role in powering Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to their maiden IPL title.

The Australian pacer showcased remarkable control with the new ball and finished with 22 wickets in just 12 games, averaging 17.54. His economy rate stood at 8.77, and his tally included one four-wicket haul.

Hazlewood was RCB’s go-to bowler in pressure situations, consistently delivering match-defining spells and finishing as the joint-third-highest wicket-taker of the tournament.

Jos Buttler – Gujarat Titans

England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler added tremendous firepower to Gujarat Titans’ batting unit.

While Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan garnered praise for their opening partnerships, Buttler anchored the innings brilliantly at number three.

He played 14 matches and scored 538 runs at a phenomenal average of 59.77, with a strike rate of 163.03.

His best score was an unbeaten 97, and he notched up five fifties in the season, establishing himself as a reliable force in the middle order.

Noor Ahmad – Chennai Super Kings

Afghanistan’s mystery spinner Noor Ahmad was a rare shining light in an otherwise tough season for Chennai Super Kings.

Despite CSK finishing at the bottom of the table, Noor impressed with his accuracy, variations, and composure under pressure.

He claimed 24 wickets from 14 matches at an average of 17, becoming the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament.

With an economy rate of 8.16 and two four-wicket hauls, Noor showcased his potential as a future star in the IPL.
