The bowlers left their imprint this year with some of the best spells, in addition to the batsmen. Some bowlers took full advantage of the conditions, while others just rattled the opposition’s batting lineups.

Mohammed Shami’s 5/18 in the 2023 World Cup match versus SL
Mohammed Shami, an Indian quick, had a historic 2023 ODI World Cup. Against SL, he recorded one of his three five-wicket hauls of the competition.
After reaching 358, Lanka was able to only fold at 55.
In two deliveries, Shami dismissed both Charith Asalanka and Dushan Hemantha. After finishing with a 5/18, he then sent back Dushmantha Chameera, Kasun Rajitha, and Angelo Mathews.
In Mirpur, Ish Sodhi’s game-winning 6/39 against Bangladesh
Earlier this year, New Zealand defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in a historic victory. Ish Sodhi was instrumental in the Kiwis’ victory at Mirpur, where they took the lead. At the end, the leg-spinner recorded a career-high 6/39.
In three balls, Sodhi got rid of Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar. He twirled his web around Hasan Mahmud, Mehedy Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, and Towhid Hridoy.
Bangladesh was combined into 168.
In Kimberley, Jofra Archer recorded career-high stats of 6/40 against SA.
Jofra Archer had a difficult year in 2023, but he also had one of his best performances, bowling 6/40 against South Africa, which was a career-high.
In an attempt to chase a staggering 347, Archer fired Aiden Markram after removing Rassie van der Dussen. To complete his six-wicket haul, he also dismissed Wayne Parnell, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, and Tabraiz Shamsi.
Mohammed Siraj’s 6/21 in the Asia Cup final versus SL
In the Asia Cup final of 2023, Mohammed Siraj caused chaos in the Sri Lankan batting order. After he started talking about the new ball, the Lankan batting order fell apart for 50 runs.
In the fourth over, he dismissed a Pathum Nissanka first, then Sadeera Samarawickrama, Asalanka, and Dhananjaya de Silva. To complete his 6/21 figures, Siraj later dismissed Dasun Shanaka and Kushal Mendis.
