Raman Lamba’s Monumental 320 – Duleep Trophy 1987/88 Final, Bhilai
The late Raman Lamba holds a special place in Duleep Trophy history as one of only two triple-centurions in the tournament’s rich legacy. Known for his fearless batting, Lamba scripted a record-breaking 320 off 471 balls for North Zone against West Zone in the 1987 final at Bhilai.
It was a match dominated by the bat, as Madan Lal-led North Zone piled up a mammoth 868 in the first innings. West Zone responded with 444 and 284/6, but the sheer weight of Lamba’s innings ensured North Zone’s triumph. Sadly, Lamba’s career and life were cut short due to a tragic on-field incident years later, but this knock remains etched in Indian domestic cricket history.
Gagan Khoda’s Unbeaten 300 – Duleep Trophy 2000/01, Panaji
Another name in the elite triple-century club is Gagan Khoda, the former Central Zone batter who lit up Panaji in February 2001. Khoda played a flawless unbeaten 300 against South Zone, guiding his team to 550/7 declared.
Central Zone’s bowlers complemented the batting brilliance by dismissing South Zone for 141 and 395, sealing an innings and 14-run victory. Khoda’s innings was a masterclass in patience and stroke-play, standing as a testament to his consistency in the domestic circuit.
